Lots of negative comments, not found anybody yet who is happy !

My analogue box has a faulty power supply so need to get some new components to fix it.

An out of the box solution to be able to watch Le Mans on Eurosport and the F1 on RTL can be purchased here....

http://www.satellitesuperstore.com/analoguesatellitereceiver.htm

Which is yours for less than it would cost you to watch 2 F1 races on Sky !!!

Actually, I'm warming to the races being on SKY.............

.........I can see a few Sunday lunchtimes in the local pub with a decent pint or two and maybe even no cooking at home.......

It still stinks though.

ETA - maybe a good excuse for Sunday runs out in the car to a common meeting place to watch the race? (No beer then of course!)

Simon,

I'm not 100% certain on this but I think that these days you will need a digital Sat-Receiver to pick up RTL at Astra 19.2°E

Good luck anyway!
John

The trouble is Mike for a pub to be a "good" pub it will....

1) Not sell larger
2) Not sell alchopops
3) Not have a happy hour
4) Not enable the use of mobile phones
5) Not encorage those that like the above by having Sky sports on offer !!!

Oh and most importantly...

6) Have at least 3 good ales and 10 well selected highland malts on offer

Good example here..... http://www.hooky-pubs.co.uk/pubs/location_maps/peyton.html

All in my opinion of course !!! :D

John, Here is a good list of the current channels on the old Astra 1 birds, http://www.lyngsat.com/astra19.html. I really want to get Eurosport for the sportscar racing and that is listed as PAL. There is a good mix of digitial and analogue. The late night viewing on digital may make you miss the grand prix  What I have discovered though is it may not be worth fixing my old box as it tuner doesn't go high enough to pick the channels on Astra 1H. It is all comming back to me now as I rember in the early 90's when the launched the 1D bird that early recievers had to be fitted with a frequency shifter. Darn it !!

That is a good website, many thanks.
I'm pretty well informed on German TV reception & already have a Humax free to air HD receiver with hard drive.
I'm just waiting for a man to fit a 2nd dish to the wall of my new home in GB.
PS I don't stay up at night to watch those very distracting programs (any more) ;)

PPS Have added my name to the list of protesters; goes without saying with a handle like mine :D

Have set up a temp dish to check out the reception and no probs, have a full set of German "freesat" channels to choose from. Next stage to try a multi LNB set up on the same dish and a diseqc switch so they can all pipe into my media PC.

Bad news about Eurosport though as Analogue German signal is being switched off end of April next year, will it switch to free sat at 19° ?
