IMPORTANT There's been a few instances where members have listed their names on this forum in the belief that in itself secures a place on organised events. For informal meet-ups (Hilltop etc) that's absolutely fine, but for organised events where we need to have numbers and or tickets (Fast Car Festival etc) you should book as detailed on the website, with the organiser of that event.
Join us on our Autumn Drive Out to the Black Mountains on Friday 6 - Sunday 8 October. Meeting in Shrewsbury, the birth place of Charles Darwin, the town centre is packed with timber-framed black and white buildings, steep narrow streets and alleyways. In fact it boasts over 600 listed buildings including the Castle, now a regimental museum and the world-famous Shrewsbury Abbey, home of the fictional Brother Cadfael.
6th October – Holiday Inn, Kew Green, Shrewsbury. Meet at the hotel for dinner arranged at a local restaurant.
7th October – Drive from Shrewsbury to Swansea via the Black Mountains – approx 116 miles. One of the finest driving roads in Wales the drive will pass through Clun, Llandrindod Wells and Landovery to name a few. Holiday Inn East, Swansea. Meet at the hotel for dinner.
8th October – Depart for home or spend some time in Swansea. Known as the city by the Sea and birthplace of Dylan Thomas, Swansea is the second largest city in Wales. Visit the maritime quarter and new SA1 development for a distinct waterfront feel whilst enjoying the restaurants, cafes & bars there. Take a guided cruise aboard the Copperjack boat on the River Tawe. Learn about the history and development of Wales at the National Waterfront Museum, or see the Egyptian Mummy at Swansea Museum. The nearby Dylan Thomas Centre has a permanent exhibition about the famous Swansea poet.
The cost per couple is £154 based on a double room with facilities and breakfast. Tour route will be provided.
Please email email@example.com if you are interested in joining the drive out or for any further information.
Our Driving Adventures are not a race, time trial or guided tour. They are a navigational road trip where you will be given a start and finish point for each day, along with a suggested route. You will be expected to find your own way there with your own map, sat nav and/or carrier pigeon.
