  1. Further update for those attending - we will be in the first field on the right as you drive in through Hatton's gates (about 50 yds inside the gates) - look for the LDC flag. The driveout is about 1 hour each way to a coffee stop at Paul Matty Sportscars and takes in some great roads. There are also plenty of pubs en this route if you want to stop for lunch or, of course, there is plenty of space in our field for you to have your own picnic back at Hatton or to take advantage of their many cafe's and restaurants. There is a grass gymkhana test for teams of two in one car and there is the option of hiring the legendary Lotus Panda at £5 a pop if you don't want to risk your pride and joy. (I know what I would do...) All profits go to help fund the event. Don't forget to bring your food and drink for the BBQ in the evening. See you there, Yours Colin Smith
  2. As we head towards our Sunny Summer BBQ next w/e I have learned that Hatton Adventure World are running a craft Fair and a Food Fair the same weekend. Something for everyone, I think, and may result in some quite exotic food finding its way onto the club BBQ's. There are plenty of camping pitches available for those wanting to join us for the weekend - starting Friday afternoon & evening. I hope to see you next weekend - please aim to be at Hatton for 10am on Saturday 8th, driveout starts at 10:30am. Yours, Colin Smith
  3. Hi Andy and Tina, Got your note and will book you both in for breakfast. I'll file you under lighweights who can't handle lunch as well Regards, Colin

  6. Lotus have issued a recall (re: steering columns) on Evoras manufactured within a narrow VIN range in 2018. There is more detail on Piston heads but if you think you may be affected, please contact your supplying dealer. Yours, Colin Smith

  8. Hi Everyone, Re: the Cotswolds run down - I have heard that several of the convoy are heading down earlier to ensure they get parked. As a result, I now plan to go down on my own and meet up with Ian Rymer's Wessex group, with a plan to arrive at Weymouth at 11am. Therefore the "Cotswolds Convoy" is cancelled, so please all make your own way down and I will see you there. Regards, Colin
  9. Hi All, Having read the thread on this event I have no idea who's going and how many may be joining me on the Cotswolds run down. I read it that anyone who has booked and paid their £2.50 will get promenade parking, whatever time they arrive. However - having consulted with my pilot who will get us to Weymouth, the following AMENDED TIMINGS apply: Leave the Halford Bridge Inn (CV36 5BN) at 8am Stop for coffee and fuel 1/2 way down circa Cirencester. Arrive at Compton Abbas Airfield at 10:35am Leave Compton Abbas for Weymouth at 10:45am. Arrive Weymouth 12 Noon. Anyone welcome - please let me know if you are joining me by the conventional email method so I know how many route books to ask our Pilots for (Compton Abbas to Weymouth only). Thanks, Colin Smith c.smith@lotusdriversclub.org.uk 07384 748235
  10. Hi All, I am driving down to Weymouth, cross-country - avoiding all motorways, for my fish n chips on 23rd June. I plan to start at the Bridge Inn on the Fosse Way, CV36 5BN, at 8:30am and then drive down through the Cotwolds to meet up with Ian Rymer's LDC Wessex group at Compton Abbas Airfield (SP5 5AP) by around 11:30am (one 30min coffee stop en route). Ian has then planned a local route (avoiding the notorious Dorchester) to Weymouth. Anyone interested in joining me? We could even start a list..... Yours, Colin Smith
  11. Hi Eddie, Please add Colin Smith to the list of lunchers. I also plan to have a bacon butty there before the action starts. Colin Smith

  16. Under the banner of encouraging cross-fertilisation between LDC national areas, I am driving down from Banbury, across the Cotswolds, leaving at 5pm on Tuesday evening (4th April) to attend the LDC Avon Area pub meeting in Chippenham. The meeting features a talk from Richard noble about the Bloodhound project and this starts at 8pm. Anyone fancy joining me on the drive or meeting me down there? Rob Ford (the LDC Avon Area Organiser) has organised the talk and it will be the first time we have met. I'll be going in my Esprit Turbo and the drive is approx. 2 hours each way. The venue is: THE BULL INN, HINTON, CHIPPENHAM, SN14 8HG - 8pm start. Let me know if you are interested in joining me. Regards, Colin Smith c.smith@lotusdriversclub.org.uk 07468 321009

  19. Jonathan Jarratt Head of Business Oakmere Motor group (incorporating Christopher Neil Ltd)   3rd November 2013   Dear Jonathan,   On behalf of the whole Lotus Drivers Club membership and committee, having only just heard the very sad news of the accident which took Ben's life recently, please accept our sympathies - our thoughts are with you.   As with the previous respondent, I too have been up to your showrooms to test drive and buy a Lotus some years ago.  I was impressed by your facilities and found your staff extremely heplful and technically knowledgable.  Your experience with other major OEM marques means that you all evidently work to a high standard throughout your organisation.   I fully understand your reasons for withdrawal from the sale of Lotus cars and I hope you continue with service and repair of the marque to give all Lotus owners your continued and valuable expertise to help us keep our cars on the road.   I hope, and will certainly encourage, the LDC members to continue to support your organisation with our business and wish you and your team the very best for the future.   Yours sincerely,   Colin Smith Chairman Lotus Drivers Club
