  1. Hi Everyone - Colin Smith here with an update for you on this event: Please see below the latest joining instructions from Lotus for the Hethel 70th bash. Please note, these are the instructions sent out to the club, who were allocated a small number of tickets but these and all 7,000 tickets have now been allocated by Lotus so, unfortunately, if you don't have a ticket you will not be admitted. These instructions also apply to you if you have your own ticket. If you do have your own ticket, the event starts at 10am but I expect cars will be admitted sooner than this (time is anyone's guess) because, as you can see from the events schedule below, track activity starts at 10:15am. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOTUS JOINING INSTRUCTIONS The Lotus 70th Anniversary Celebration day is nearly here, and we are looking forward to seeing you on September 29th, 2018. Address for Event: Group Lotus Plc. Potash Lane, Hethel, Norwich, Norfolk, NR14 8EZ, England. Please do not follow your satellite navigation; it will take you to the back of Potash Lane which is not passable via car. Please follow the signs from the A11 and B1135. Arriving on site: The Car Clubs display is in the car park immediately to the right of the entrance to the factory entrance. You have been provided with a GREEN windscreen pass to be displayed in the top left hand corner of your car windscreen. It is vital that you display this on the day or you will not be admitted access to Potash Lane or on to the Lotus site without it. Your GREEN windscreen pass admits your pre-booked Lotus car, you and your ONE passenger (max) will need one Admission ticket per person, including children. (Please note that animals are not permitted on to site, except for guide/service dogs.) Once on Site: You will be guided on to the car park. Please follow the instructions of the marshals, who will be asked to park in a certain way to maximise the number of cars we are able to park. The official opening hours of the event is from 10am until 4pm. The provisional track schedule for the day can be found below: 10:15am – 110 Lotus Bike Club parade 10:45am - Welcome and Introductory Speeches from Senior Lotus Executives 11:00am - Unveiling of the Lotus Special Cars 11:30am - Classic Team Lotus display (1) 12:00pm - Sunbeam Rally Cars 12:30pm - Lotus dynamics display 13:00pm - One of ‘every Lotus car ever made’ parade 14:00pm - Lotus Driving Academy- Win a Hot lap! 14:30pm - Classic team Lotus display (2) 15:00pm - Special Event set up 15:30pm - Special Event activity We are sure this will be a fun day, and a special one to remember. 2. Hi Everyone, Re: the Cotswolds run down - I have heard that several of the convoy are heading down earlier to ensure they get parked. As a result, I now plan to go down on my own and meet up with Ian Rymer's Wessex group, with a plan to arrive at Weymouth at 11am. Therefore the "Cotswolds Convoy" is cancelled, so please all make your own way down and I will see you there. Regards, Colin
  3. Hi All, Having read the thread on this event I have no idea who's going and how many may be joining me on the Cotswolds run down. I read it that anyone who has booked and paid their £2.50 will get promenade parking, whatever time they arrive. However - having consulted with my pilot who will get us to Weymouth, the following AMENDED TIMINGS apply: Leave the Halford Bridge Inn (CV36 5BN) at 8am Stop for coffee and fuel 1/2 way down circa Cirencester. Arrive at Compton Abbas Airfield at 10:35am Leave Compton Abbas for Weymouth at 10:45am. Arrive Weymouth 12 Noon. Anyone welcome - please let me know if you are joining me by the conventional email method so I know how many route books to ask our Pilots for (Compton Abbas to Weymouth only). Thanks, Colin Smith c.smith@lotusdriversclub.org.uk 07384 748235
  4. Hi All, I am driving down to Weymouth, cross-country - avoiding all motorways, for my fish n chips on 23rd June. I plan to start at the Bridge Inn on the Fosse Way, CV36 5BN, at 8:30am and then drive down through the Cotwolds to meet up with Ian Rymer's LDC Wessex group at Compton Abbas Airfield (SP5 5AP) by around 11:30am (one 30min coffee stop en route). Ian has then planned a local route (avoiding the notorious Dorchester) to Weymouth. Anyone interested in joining me? We could even start a list..... Yours, Colin Smith

  8. Going in the Elise may increase your chances of getting home again...... :-) However, you are welcome to ride shotgun if you're hard enough. C
  9. Under the banner of encouraging cross-fertilisation between LDC national areas, I am driving down from Banbury, across the Cotswolds, leaving at 5pm on Tuesday evening (4th April) to attend the LDC Avon Area pub meeting in Chippenham. The meeting features a talk from Richard noble about the Bloodhound project and this starts at 8pm. Anyone fancy joining me on the drive or meeting me down there? Rob Ford (the LDC Avon Area Organiser) has organised the talk and it will be the first time we have met. I'll be going in my Esprit Turbo and the drive is approx. 2 hours each way. The venue is: THE BULL INN, HINTON, CHIPPENHAM, SN14 8HG - 8pm start. Let me know if you are interested in joining me. Regards, Colin Smith c.smith@lotusdriversclub.org.uk 07468 321009

    Christopher Neil LTD Update

Jonathan Jarratt Head of Business Oakmere Motor group (incorporating Christopher Neil Ltd)   3rd November 2013   Dear Jonathan,   On behalf of the whole Lotus Drivers Club membership and committee, having only just heard the very sad news of the accident which took Ben's life recently, please accept our sympathies - our thoughts are with you.   As with the previous respondent, I too have been up to your showrooms to test drive and buy a Lotus some years ago.  I was impressed by your facilities and found your staff extremely heplful and technically knowledgable.  Your experience with other major OEM marques means that you all evidently work to a high standard throughout your organisation.   I fully understand your reasons for withdrawal from the sale of Lotus cars and I hope you continue with service and repair of the marque to give all Lotus owners your continued and valuable expertise to help us keep our cars on the road.   I hope, and will certainly encourage, the LDC members to continue to support your organisation with our business and wish you and your team the very best for the future.   Yours sincerely,   Colin Smith Chairman Lotus Drivers Club
